Online Gambling Educational Simulator
Interactive educational simulation demonstrating how online slot systems manipulate odds and payout algorithms to educate users on systemic gambling risks.

An educational slot-machine simulation built as an anti-online-gambling campaign. It imitates the look and feel of an Olympus-themed online slot in order to demonstrate, from the inside, how such systems are engineered to make the player lose.
Highlights
- The admin modes are the argument — a
RUNGKADmode that never pays out imitates the drain phase, aMAXWINmode with manipulated odds imitates the bait phase that creates the habit, and aNORMALmode running honest RNG still loses over time because of the house edge. Letting the visitor switch between them turns "the game is rigged" from a claim into something they watch happen. - Nothing here can take money — no real currency, no microtransactions, no registration, no deposit, and no connection to any betting site. Balance and stakes are numbers held in browser memory; refreshing the page resets them.
- It looks convincing on purpose — the resemblance to a real slot is the whole pedagogical point. A crude mock-up would let a viewer dismiss the lesson as not applying to the polished apps they actually encounter.
- The disclaimer leads, rather than hides in a footer — the README opens with an explicit statement of what the project is and is not, before any feature is described.
- No framework, no build step, one file — pure HTML, CSS and vanilla JavaScript, which is what lets it be hosted statically and read end to end by anyone who wants to verify the claims about how it behaves.
Key Features
- Slot mechanics — reels, symbols, multipliers and payout evaluation in an Olympus theme, with sound effects.
- Three riggable modes — always-lose, manipulated-win and honest-RNG, switchable so the difference can be observed directly.
- In-memory balance — a stake and balance that exist only for the session, making it structurally impossible to lose anything real.
- Educational framing — the interface and documentation explain what each mode is imitating and why it works on players.
- Static hosting — deployable to GitHub Pages with no backend of any kind.
Tech Stack
- HTML5
- CSS3
- Vanilla JavaScript (no framework, no bundler)
- GitHub Pages (static hosting, custom domain)
Status & Maturity
Completed. The whole application is 1,078 lines in a single index.html, which suits a project whose credibility depends on being auditable in one sitting. There are no automated tests; the behaviour that matters is the payout logic in each mode, and it is short enough to read directly. Online gambling does real damage to families, mental health and household finances in Indonesia — this project exists to make that mechanism visible rather than to be entertaining.
